This document answers the most frequently asked questions about IconExperience.com and the icon collections. If you cannot find the answer to your question, please send an email to support@iconexperience.com.

IconExperience.com was created to provide a source for high-quality professional icon collections at an affordable price.

The V-Collections are our leading edge icon collections that include 2400 high quality icons in a design based on the Windows Vista design guidelines.

The X-Collections are our proven icon collections that include 2000 icons in a design based on the Windows XP design guidelines.

After purchasing a license you will receive a download link that points to a location on the web from where you can download the licensed icon collections.

Sure. For the V-Collections we offer a small sample package that contains six icons in all available image formats. For the X-Collections we offer a free sample collection that contains 35 icons.

Altogether there are 2411 icons, each in seven sizes in the IconExperience V-Collections. In other words, there are 7x2411 = 16877 image files in the collections.

After purchasing the collection you will receive an email with a download link. The download link is valid for two weeks and points to a website from where you can download all files. The files include:

• One ico-file containing the icon in size 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48 and 256x256 pixels. Each size is provided as high color, 256 palette color, and 16 palette color images.
• Twelve png-files in sizes 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 128x128 and 256x256 pixels. For sizes 32x32, 48x48, 64x64, 128x128 and 256x256 one version with shadow and one version without shadow is provided.
• A version of our Icon Search tool that runs locally on your computer
• A pdf-catalog with full quality images of the icons and without watermarks

To get a better idea of the provided file formats and the quality of the icons, we recommend downloading our free set of six sample icons.

The reason is simple: BMP does not support translucency (=partial transparency). Since translucency is part of the icons' visual experience, we decided not to include BMP files. If you need BMP versions of the icons, we recommend using our free icon converter, which you can find at the technical information page.

The V-Collections icons are currently only sold as bitmap graphics. We may offer vector versions of the V-Collections icons in future.

The only difference is the name. We changed it to "X-Collections" to make the distinguishable from our new V-Collections.

Altogether there are 2071 icons, each in four sizes, with and without drop shadow in the IconExperience collections. In other words, there are 5x2x2071 = 20710 image files in the collections.

The icons fit nicely into most modern graphical user interfaces. Especially when using the icons in Windows® XP native applications or with Java™ Swing applications using a modern look and feel such as the Alloy Look&Feel, the icons can greatly contribute to the overall appearance of user interfaces.

The INCORS icon collections were created according to our own guidelines, which are similar to the Windows® XP guidelines. We made sure that icons from the IconExperience collections can be combined with icons created according to the Windows® XP design guidelines.
